Bhramari Pranayama

Benefits: Inhale dess gently at the root of the nose near the eyes with the middle fingers both the hands, keep the mind centred on the medullary plexus (ajna-cuk Close both ears completely with the thumbs. Now, humming like a bee ane resonating ‘OM’, breathe out. Repeat this procedure. Inhaling for 3-5 seconds and closing the ears, eyes etc., as per the procedure breathing it out in 15-20 seconds makes one round of Bhramari Pranayama. Repeat the same process as soon as one Bhramari round is completed. Every person must practice this Pranayama for at least 5-7 times. Those who are suffering from cancer, depression, Parkinson’s disease, migraine, heart disease and some other incurable diseases or who are desirous of venturing into the depths of yoga. can practice Bhramari Prāṇāyāma regularly for 11-21 times.

Precaution

The sound should be melodious and simple like of humming bee; do not sound rigid and hoarse. Do not press your eyes strongly by the hands.

Benefits

  • Very useful in mental problems. It is beneficial in migraine, Parkinson, agitation, mental anxiety and fickleness of mind to give health and peace. It is very useful for meditation.
  • By Bhramari Präṇāyāma pulse rate is decreased, Metabolites of adrenalin and nor-adrenalin reduced, Skin resistance is increased (a sign of decreased anxiety).
  • Bhramari Prāṇāyāma can be used in managment of anxiety neurosis, panic disorder.
